I just got off the phone with two of my Make America Relate Again guests, and one of them (who worked for the last few years at a liberal news media company) thinks liberals are fascists (she has good reason for this) while the other one has liberal friends she's able to talk politics with without getting nasty. It really depends on your community and your individual lived experience, and the truth doesn't matter nearly as much as perception. It's a very sad state of affairs.

My comments about this weren't meant to divert attention from your point, but rather to point out that even stories that are this progressive and subversive are usually controlled by forces that don't at all believe in the message they represent and behave in opposite ways to how the heroes of the stories would. That's our world in a nutshell. As long as capitalism and profits are more valuable to us as a species than the quality of human lives, we will never find the solutions that could ensure dignity and well-being for all of us.
