Oh John, I love this! I actually think it's even harder for men to break out of the gender norm trap than women. Women at least are afforded some leeway. If a woman wear's a menswear suit, she's often seen as chic and slightly edgy. If a man wears a dress, our culture pretty reliably and brutally ridicules them. Feminine qualities in men are heavily punished by culture, and I hate it. I'm so glad you got the chance to know and explore your true self more thanks to your former nonbinary partner. :) It's beautiful.
