"There have been so many acts of violence perpetrated on LGBTQ+ spaces recently, by people who falsely believe our sexual identities are somehow a threat to them."

I don't think they believe our sexual identities are a threat to them; that would involve a level of self-awareness that doesn't exist, at least in any productive sense, in violent, hateful individuals. I have a deep intuition that people who feel threatened by queer sexuality are trying to kill the queer within themselves. Their own shame and deep self-hatred is so intense that they have to project it out onto others or risk destroying themselves.

Beautiful piece, as always, Jamie!!!!!! I'm so glad you're writing essays again!!!!!
