This entire comment is vile, sexist, and lacking in any kind of compassion or empathy. What’s your damage, dude? When a writer shares vulnerable, intimate facets of their experience of life, that doesn’t automatically mean that’s how they define themselves. It means they aren’t sugarcoating — they are giving you the whole story.
If you see this more in female writers, that may be because our culture conditions men to avoid showing so-called “weakness,” and thereby forces them to hide their vulnerabilities, ironically weakening them in myriad ways. There is great strength in vulnerability, in transparency. There is power in sharing our stories, warts and all. It’s sad that you seem to judge that level of courage.
Whatever happened to make you this unkind, I am so sorry. I hope you find a way to be better and do better.
